Thanks for all your feedback, much of it positive, and some well articulated issues.
The primary issue so far has been about speed, rather than about the functionalites of ON. We are working hard on the issue, and I have just seen an intermediate build for our 0.18.0 release for Dec 6th and things are looking much, much better.
1) the new release will incorporate a much slicker look and feel that we have been working on for the last few months, with many additional tweaks to the interaction models such as the landscape view for dragging and dropping contacts into different worlds
2) it is much, much faster on devices such as the ACER LIQUID and the HTC HERO.
3) we are also issuing a second version of the service in an “app” mode (rather than a homescreen) for all our beta testers who are using earlier Android devices such as the HTC Magic and HTC Dream. This resolves all the memory and speed issues we faced on this device. This “app version” should be available a few days after the main release, around December 14.
So please keep your feedback coming, it is really helping us make the whole thing better.
